I have a background in music and sound design, having been awarded the BA degree in Arts with specialisation in Music and the MA degree in Postproduction with specialisation in Sound Design. My MA dissertation (Department of Theatre, Film and Television, University of York) focussed on exploring the creation of a new format of sonic art entitled ‘audio film’ that may be considered as an alternative to Audio Description. In 2013 I completed my PhD at the University of York on the importance of virtual acoustics to further our understanding of the York Mystery Plays.
After completing my PhD I joined CoDE as a Senior Research Fellow, where I worked on developing research projects in the fields of sound and acoustics. In 2016 I joined the Department of Theatre, Film and Television (University of York) as a Lecturer in Sound Production and Post Production.
I am currently the Vice-Chair of the AES British Section.
